Crabtree Falls

DAY HIKE

Celebrating the Year of the Trail has never been easier!

2023 the Year of the Trail, is highlighting an opportunity to showcase, promote, and celebrate our state’s extensive trail systems. North Carolina is home to some amazing trails and we are headed to one that has been on our list for a while.

We will meet up and carpool to the gorgeous Crabtree Falls. After our hike, we will grab lunch at a local eatery.

Crabtree Falls is located at Milepost 339.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway (about 45 miles north of Asheville) and is accessed by a woodland hiking trail with two options: an easier 3-mile hike to and from on the same trail, with a steady descent and return climb; or a more strenuous 3.5-mile loop trail that climbs a ridge above the falls. It's a beautiful hike, complete with plenty of wildflowers in the early summer. The 70-ft. waterfall is definitely worth the trek!

Learn more about Crabtree Falls here and here.

Remember to bring plenty of water and dress appropriately for the weather.
